Today, our new Nikon D610 DSLR Camera (Body Only) arrived that we had purchased online from B&H Photo. We are excited to use this new camera, as it is our first stop into the Nikon realm, leaving Canon behind. It was a tough decision, but after many reviews, personal testimonials, and comparing Canon and Nikon, we choose to go with the new leader in photography. Nikon in the past several years has taken on Canon in market share. Nikon offers more features and sharper images for less cost. Canon only updates their products after Nikon has already released new features, then Canon customers demand it. In this case, when we wanted to experience the advantages of a full frame sensor, we decided to go with Nikon instead of Canon. This decision was also costly, as it meant that we had to sell off all of the equipment that we had purchased over the years at deep discount after market prices. However, we can’t be more happy with this purchase and plan on leaning how to fully operate this new camera.
This camera was to replace my previous Canon EOS 7D SLR Digital Camera. My wife Jenny had purchased this camera online from B&H Photo & Video. It had been a good camera, but Jenny and I were ready for a full frame sensor.
Jenny and I made the decision to switch from Canon brand camera products to Nikon brand camera products. It was a difficult decision. Daddy has had brand loyalty to Canon since he learned photography in a two year Photography class at David Crockett High School, working then on a Canon Rebel that shot on film. Since then and many pocket sized cameras, up to our first camera into the DSLR market, the Canon EOS 400D. When SXSW indoor low light shooting conditions required a much higher ISO, we purchased the Canon EOS 7D.
Jenny has taken a larger interest in photography. She has learned all that she can and become the primary photographer for our family, and friends as well. She too is working on her own business, Pretty Paper Photography.
We had sold our Canon 7D camera and most of our lenses, and other Canon equipment over the past few weeks on Craigslist. We have only purchased one lens, the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 50mm f/1.4G Autofocus Lens 2180.
So now we can only expect even more high better quality photos in full frame resolution of the Comer children, family, relatives, and new customers at Such Good Photography and Pretty Paper Photography.
